The Crossover book review

The Crossover by Kwame Alexander is an amazing book. The book talks about a boy named Josh Bell who plays basketball and has a twin brother who also plays ball. His dad used to play ball and now he doesn’t because medical reason. Through out the story it talks about how a new girl comes to school and Filthy (Josh) likes her but so does his brother. They start getting into fights and as the basketball championship come along there dad gets worst. They start getting distracted from basketball and everything around them starts to slow down.

In the book I noticed some signpost their coach told Filthy, “You can get used to things going well, but you’re never prepared for something going wrong.” This means that if you’re just used to things going good then the wrong things are going to hit you like a wreaking ball. Filthy Dad told him “Boys, your talent will help you win games, but your intelligence, that will help you win life.” What I thought the quote meant was focus on school because on day you can get hurt and you will not be able to play and school can always be the back up plan.
